Danish-born saxophonist Signe Emmeluth, now based in Oslo, has emerged as one of the leading improvisers on the ever-vibrant Nordic scene. A string of outstanding albums from her quartet Emmeluth's Amoeba demonstrate her strength as a composer and bandleader who works at the experimental meeting point of various musical traditions. For this event she will be appearing solo, giving free reign to her often frenetic, always intense saxophonic voice.
Also hailing from the Oslo scene, we will be joined by percussionist Ståle Liavik Solberg in a duo setting with bassist and guitarist Dominic Lash. Solberg and Lash are frequent collaborators with some of Europe's best regarded improvisers, both highly valued for their deep listening and responsive improvisation. They have appeared together in a quartet with John Butcher and John Russell, and last year released their first duo album Hey Kye.
