Anemone Quartet + Fliss Evans ft. Mystery Guests

We’re thrilled to bring in the new year with an exceptional double bill of Laura Cole’s Anemone Quartet and Fliss Evans ft. mystery guests.

‘The Anemone Quartet is a new collaboration, featuring four of the most exciting and powerful improvisers on the UK scene, with pianist/vocalist Laura Cole, double bassist Olie Brice, drummer Johnny Hunter, and clarinettist / saxophonist / vocalist Faye MacCalman. The quartet features compositions from each musician, and also draws on free improvisation, photographs, poetry and spoken word.’

Fliss Evans is a Birmingham based musician, working across a number of bands and ensembles, most notably holding down the bass lines on baritone saxophone in Diddy Sweg, a band that has performed at festivals across the UK and internationally.

Alongside other performing projects Fliss is also a Co-Director of Digbeth Jazz, Birmingham’s leading weekly jazz night and programmes some of the UK’s most exciting jazz artists every Tuesday at the Night Owl in Digbeth.

Fliss will be joined by 2 mystery guest improvisers.

This concert will last approximately 2 hours.
