Beck/Saw/Jasnoch + Steve Saunders

When plucked string instrument specialist (and former country musician) John Jasnoch moved to Sheffield in 1979, the first musician he crossed paths with was Derek Saw – who was then a woodwind player. For the past 25 years Derek has focused on brass instruments and has developed a unique approach to the trumpet, flugelhorn and tuba. Mick Beck has been a fixture on the free scene since 1980. His activities range from improvising big band leader to solo performer. He is known for his energy and originality. His playing covers the full emotional gamut from heartbreaking to mischievous, and from abstracts to compelling swing.

Steve Saunders is one of the finest improvisers to have emerged from the Birmingham scene in recent years. He has performed with the like of Xhosa Cole and Paul Dunmall as well as showcasing his own music which sits at the very cutting edge of contemporary composition.
