Izumi Kimura + Gerry Hemingway plus Neil Metcalfe, Barry Edwards, Colin Somervell

This is a double bill with each group playing one set of about 45 minutes. The trio of Neil Metcalfe, flute, Barry Edwards, guitar and Colin Somervell, double bass have been playing together at the Mopomoso and FlimFlam sessions in London; their music is nicely interactive.

The duo, made up of Dublin based Japanese pianist Izumi Kimura and Switzerland based American drummer Gerry Hemingway (last in Birmingham with Anthony Braxton), have recorded an excellent album Kairos. Bruce Gallanter of the Downtown Music Gallery New York writes of the duo: 'the duo is immensely well matched, especially as the sound of the piano and assorted percussion often combine seamlessly as one.'
